Established in August 1964 as the Koenji Look Shopping Street Federation, the "64th Tokyo Koenji Awa Odori Festival" was held in August 2023. In April 2023, Kikusui-ren celebrated its 60th anniversary, marking the occasion with a commemorative performance at the National Theater.
We hold the famous Tokushima Awa Odori Association's Kikusui-ren in high regard, viewing them as mentors who embrace change alongside tradition.
Our activities span the entire year, encompassing performances at various events, festivals, and even in developing countries. Our international cultural exchange initiatives include the "Genki Delivery Project," which provides free dance performances three times a year to those unable to attend in person. Moreover, we have programs tailored for the elderly and physically challenged individuals, along with a strong focus on volunteer work at welfare facilities. Our goal is to foster a society where connections among people flourish.
We treasure Japan's unique national character as a traditional culture and actively utilize social media to share the profound emotional allure of Awa Odori dance. Anticipate the continued growth of Kikusui-ren as it ventures into uncharted territories.

Onnaodori
Onna Odori is the most famous group in Awa Odori, wearing hats and geta (wooden clogs). The arms are raised high to the tips of the fingers, and the legs are danced with a graceful, inward motion. When they reach junior high school age, the girls of Kogiku always move to Onna Odori. The number of young members will increase one after another, and we can look forward to their transformation in the future.

In their standard "Samurai" composition, they attract the audience with their high jumps. The dancers range in age from junior high school students to those in their fifties, and they perform chic dances while making the most of their own unique talents. Watch out for the powerful dancing in front of the audience to the up-tempo musical accompaniment.
Onna otoko Odori
This is a men's dance performed by a woman who pays careful attention to the way her hips drop, the shape of her fingers, the way she turns her fan, and the angles of her toes. This is the section of Kikusuiren that has the most fans. Because of their skilled dancing, they have not recruited newcomers for a long time, but this year, for the first time in several years, newcomers joined the group. They are all newcomers with high expectations, as they were only allowed to enter. Watch for the popular division to be further refined.
Kogiku
This is a children's dance in which sixth graders are in the highest grade. Every year, the sixth graders become the leaders of the children's dance and lead the younger students. This year, nine sixth graders were chosen as leaders and will be in charge of shouting during the performance. Please pay attention to the shining faces of the kogiku.
Narimono
The Kikusuiren narimono consists of a gong, shamisen, shinobue flute, songs, large drums and shime-daiko. LargeFrom powerful sounds to flowing, delicate sounds, we sound to deliver the dance. Our members, who range in age from their 20s to their 70s, engage in friendly competition with each other on a daily basis! We perform a variety of sounds not only in Nagashi Odori but also in stage dancing. Although the roles are different, the dancers and I feel as one, and we are always thinking and practicing how we can deliver an Awa Odori dance that is unique to Kikusuiren.
